Library Media Center

Welcome to the St. Elizabeth Library and Media Center!

The library is going through a face lift thanks to a generous gift! Our November open house will showcase our beautiful new facility and our STEAM Makerspace. Join us on Monday, November 4 during school conferences (from 11 AM-7 PM) to watch students in action.

Grades 1-5 will learn about coding with Ozobots so come in and take a look at them! Please take a few moments to enjoy some student work samples by clicking here.

About Mrs. Starr

Laura Starr is the Library and Media Specialist at St. Elizabeth School. Mrs. Starr has worked at St. Elizabeth School in several capacities since 2006 and has been licensed to teach since 2010. She loves to help with research projects or reading recommendations, so please come visit! If she is with a class, please feel free to use the library's self checkout station. There is information below about curriculum by grade level, Diocesan standards, circulation policies and information for volunteers. Please login to your Sycamore account to view the class schedules at the Library and Media Center section.

About the curriculum

The Library and Media Center is about so much more than checking out books! For example, 2nd graders learn to use spreadsheets and grades K-6 participate in the Hour of Code! Please check out our Student Work for student work samples. Click here to see what each grade is working on monthly. Click here to see the Diocesan standards that are covered in the Library and Media Center in Technology.

Checkout and return

Each class, PreSchool-6th grade, has an assigned class time and can check out books during their scheduled time in the Library. However, students are welcome to come use the self-checkout station during acceptable class times and before or after school. Books are to be returned within 7 days. An automated notice will be sent to the parent(s) if your family has an overdue book. The school expects that lost or damaged books will be replaced so the next student can enjoy our library resources. Thank you!

We love volunteers; both the parent and the student type! If you are willing to spend about an hour learning the shelving system, you could start volunteering right away. Parents are welcome any time their schedules permit and volunteering is a great way for students to earn service hours. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Starr (816-523-7100 or if you are interested in helping out!
